The Gossip Column
What's new at the Intellivision Library?
- May 20, 2001: The ForSale page has finally been updated. Go to the Miscellaneous Section and take a look.
- May 10, 2001: At PhillyClassic I unveiled a new game. Once I finish adding a couple features (at my leisure), I will post the binary to a new section dubbed the Development Section. Keep your eyes peeled. More games to come.
- April 2, 2001: My new permanent E-mail address is mihayes@adelphia.net. Note the username is mihayes, not mjhayes. Disregard all references to mjhayes@cse.buffalo.edu and mjhayes@pcgeek.net.
- March 26, 2001: Here is a brief description of what files and directories were moved, added, renamed, and deleted, among other things.
- March 26, 2001: I managed to get the hidden message in Vectron to appear. Just download the appropriate save state from the Emulator Section and press 7. Watch your aim!
- March 25, 2001: Joseph Zbiciak posted a message to the Intellivision Programming bulletin board after having disassembled Vectron and finding the code fragment for the elusive easter egg. He also E-mailed me privately, asking me to try to confirm his findings since I'm one of the few people that can make it far enough into the game to reach the point where the egg is triggered.
- March 21, 2001: It's been long enough. Joseph Zbiciak was kind enough to donate web space to me in the meantime until I move to a new permanent location. There are probably broken links, so be patient. More details later.
- March 7, 2000: Joseph Zbiciak has interfaced a real IntelliVoice to jzIntv via a cart reader, and it works great. IntelliVoice sound samples for intvpc as well as jzIntv should be on the horizon.
- March 4, 2000: Two save states have been added: one for Tropical Trouble; the other for White Water. Both are available at the Emulator Section. The White Water save state will be updated as I achieve higher scores.
- February 25, 2000: Michael Thomasson, owner of Good Deal Games, has conducted an interview with Joseph Zbiciak. There is a new crossword puzzle online at his site as well.
- February 19, 2000: The screenshot and save state for Astrosmash! have been updated, thanks to Christopher D van der Kaay. Currently the score is at 4,000,000 and his goal is to achieve 10,000,000 points. Get them from the Emulator Section.
- February 18, 2000: Following is a snippet of an E-mail from Christopher D van der Kaay:
"I thought this may be of minor interest. Keri Tombazian, the voice of the female computer in Space Spartans is a DJ in Southern California -- KTWV 94.7FM 'The Wave'. She can be heard at 7 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Also, a real audio of her voice can be heard at http://tele-talent.com/ramfiles/4-53.ram -- This illustrates the great job Mattel did in compressing the audio while still maintaining the relative integrity of her voice. Incidentally, I came across her name while searching for southern California radio stations."
- February 11, 2000: Three screenshots and a save state for Slam Dunk Super Pro Basketball are now available in the Emulator Section, thanks to Christopher D van der Kaay, who makes the following comment, "I'd ruin the surprise if I described the pic and game save state. Basically, it is a bug in Slam Dunk which turns out be very comical. ...this bug occurs with both the Master Component and Emulator. When you run the save state, think to yourself, 'My that was a very powerful shot!'"
- January 31, 2000: Deadly Dogs has been updated. Download it here.
- January 29, 2000: The latest message on the Intellivision Programming bulletin board is by Joseph Zbiciak, who has now extracted Deadly Dogs from the Dig Dug binary. It is available for download here. Additionally, Christopher D. van der Kaay has provided two screenshots and a save state, all of which are available from the Emulator Section.
- January 20, 2000: All the entries have been received and evaluated. See the Emulator Section for the results of the 1999 Development Competition.
- January 10, 2000: An updated version of SDK-1600 is available here.
- December 22, 1999: The multilingual Super Cobra manual has been added to the Manuals Section. Since the Mattel/INTV manuals are now available from the Blue Sky Rangers' web site, I won't be adding any more INTV manuals.
- December 6, 1999: The theme music for Bomb Squad has been added to the Music Sction.
- November 29, 1999: The errata slip for the Step-By-Step Guide to Home Computing has been added to the Manuals Section, courtesy of Pete Schlepphorst.
- November 26, 1999: Here are a few small goodies: save states for Minotaur and Tron Solar Sailer (available from the Emulator Section); and a mini-ECS BASIC program for use with the Vampire Bats game in Mr. BASIC Meets Bits 'n' Bytes (available from the ECS BASIC Section). Copy the Space Spartans' .cfg file to the directory where Tron Solar Sailer is located, rename it to slrsailr.cfg, and modify it to point all references to spcspart.snd to the appropriate directory. You will now hear the I/O access codes for each track, making the game playable. Now if only somebody would create .snd files for the other IntelliVoice games.
- November 3, 1999: Another link exchange has been established, this time with Good Deal Games. A link is available from the Links Section.
- November 3, 1999: A comment to the review of Beauty & The Beast has been added thanks to "Steve." If anybody wants to comment on an existing review or start a new review, simply let me know.
- October 6, 1999: As an alternative to the existing dev kit, Frank Palazzolo's Disassembler and Joseph Zbiciak's Assembler are available here and here respectively. Rumors also exist of a dev kit "Coming Soon" from none other than the group that made the phrase popular. See the Intellivision Programming bulletin board for more details. Note that I do not care what tools are used to produce entries for the Development Competition just as long as I am able to evaluate them. I intend to have Linux and jzIntv taking residence in my PC before the deadline.
- September 14, 1999: Release 010 of jzIntv is now available. Go to the jzIntv: Intellivision for Linux / Unix home page for more information and downloads. A MacOS port is in progress courtesy of Tim Lindner.
- September 7, 1999: According to the latest announcement in the Intellivision Programming mailing list, a Windows port of jzIntv is now available. Get the binaries here. Thanks to Joseph Zbiciak for the news.
- July 28, 1999: More information about D.E.I. is available here. Thanks to Joseph Zbiciak for the news.
- July 28, 1999: Joseph Zbiciak has written two demonstration programs which are accessible here.
- July 14, 1999: Carl Mueller's web page has moved here.
- June 2, 1999: An interesting announcement was made in the Intellivision Programming mailing list by Joseph Zbiciak, who has done it again by writing a Linux kernel driver for the Hand Controller Interface that will "allow any joystick-aware program under Linux to use Intellivision hand controllers via an INTV2PC controller. Imagine the tremendous hack value of playing Quake with an Intellivision hand controller!" The driver supports up to three Hand Controller Interfaces, so Linux users now have another reason to buy a Hand Controller Interface or three. Go to the jzIntv: Intellivision for Linux / Unix home page for more information, then go to the Division Software home page and order your Hand Controller Interface today!
- April 29, 1999: The errata slip has been added to The Jetsons' Ways with Words manual, which is available in the Manuals Section, thanks to "+ +".
- April 17, 1999: Frank Palazzolo, the owner of the 2-bits Web Site, has started an Intellivision Programming mailing list. Click here to find out how to join the mailing list. "hopefully the sum total of the free time of others will add up to something cool"
- April 16, 1999: William Moeller sent an E-mail early this morning with lots of interesting news. First of all, Division Software is ready to take orders for the Hand Controller Interface now (See the home page for ordering information.). Second of all, he has talked to someone recently from Applied Physics (APh) who knows what "D.E.I." stands for, which appeared in a few easter eggs in early Intellivision games -- "Dabney Eats It." Finally, there is news of a person in Hamilton who can get ahold of a Play Cable that was modified to use tapes. Looks like an Intellicharger may be released sooner than any of us have previously expected. More details to come later.
- March 8, 1999: Joseph Zbiciak has written what he calls his "latest sick hack -- 'xclones' ... 'xroach' meets 'Crazy Clones.'" Those of you using Linux or X Windows can compile the zipped source (available in the Miscellaneous Section) and watch Intellivision Men run all over the root window. Also check out the xclones home page for more information.
- March 2, 1999: I finally got ahold of a scan of the Truckin' map and posted it in the Art Section. The scan came from Pete Schlepphorst's web page, but the poster of the original scan remains unknown.
- February 17, 1999: DougM is back! His web page has moved here, and there is a mirror as well.
- January 12, 1999: The scans of the front and back of the Parker Brothers International Registration Card (which came with the multilingual Parker Brothers titles) are available now in the Art section for viewing.
- December 22, 1998: Now here's something interesting. Joseph Zbiciak has sent me a portion of an old document containing some of the Easter Eggs discovered by Carl Mueller and posted on his web page. The original document is courtesy of anonymous. The document is available in the Miscellaneous Section.
- December 1, 1998: Jason Sinclair has sent me a trick for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Treasure of Tarmin that was just too good not to share with everybody.
- September 24, 1998: The Digital Press HQ staff discovered this site today and E-mailed an offer for a link exchange. What an honor!

Go Back.
